One more key milestone achieved towards the Hout Bay Integrated Community Safety Plan. CCP (Community Crime Prevention) and HBNW (Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch) have reached an agreement whereby JJ de Villiers will take on a volunteer operations coordinator role in conjunction with the HBNW Watchcon control room. This will enable him to coordinate and control the efforts of responders during joint response actions, as well as to liaise with Law Enforcement organisations.
Andrew Martin, HBNW Chairperson, said he was extremely happy that recent negotiations had resulted in the two organisations working more closely together to further coordinate crime fighting initiatives within Hout Bay. JJ’s expertise will improve the effectiveness of HBNW’s Watchcon Control Centre, while maximising CCP efforts to support pro-active crime prevention.
Keri Cross, CCP Director and founder, assured Hout Bay residents and CCP donors that JJ remains a full time employee of CCP and this additional responsibility will in no way affect his current CCP role, which has been a major factor in reducing crime in Hout Bay since the inception of CCP in 2015.
This agreement is another important step in reducing response times and bringing together a more coordinated approach to crime fighting in Hout Bay. It forms part of an Integrated Community Safety Plan (ICSP) which evolved from a strategic planning meeting between all community safety organisations, including SAPS, CPF, HBNW, CCP and local Hout Bay security companies (SSP’s) in 2016.
